House cleaning with the Divine...
Wednesday, December 2, 2009

The cosmic recycle bin just outside my door continues to receive my discards,

Like a Salvation Army clothing store receiving things that no longer fit.

The process never ends don’t you know but the journey is full of delight,

As the gifts pop up for me to examine with my smiling heart,

And then let them drop away.

I must admit there are still some lingering bits

From feelings and beliefs buried deep inside,

But I love the challenge of greeting them with compassion,

And laughing as they fade away far out of sight.

Sometimes they have such a strong persistence,

I get lost for awhile within the labyrinth of confusion,

But I always seem to pop out the other side ,

With love and gratitude in perfusion.

Another part of this magical feast pertains to the point called forgiveness,

There are so many ways to invite this sacred force,

But the most potent recipient is always me nobody else.

Can you savour the flavour and get lost in the colour,

Without a name ever raising its head,

Can you greet me tomorrow with no memory behind me,

And can you give in to my love with no conditions to be read?

I’m not asking you for any promises beyond being who you truly are,

And can you let me be the same,

Can you give up on trying to change the things that lie outside your heart,

And to relax with the joy of love while giving up the shame?

We’re each a bundle of fragments coalesced

Into a walking, talking, feeling sort of thing,

But when the lights go down and the music plays,

We’ll see each other naked and be ready for the fling

That takes us out to distant galaxies where nothing normal exists,

Where the only thing that matters much is the sweet love that’s upon your glistening lips.

Can you love the form of everything regardless of its perceived distortion,

Can the beauty of it shine through all the descriptions to grip your heart and soul,

Can you relax in this blissful contentment thereby attracting the Divine,

And marry the Beloved so peacefully that you completely disappear,

To dance this glorious moment with me as your lover dear?

So forget about all that foolin’ around,

And let’s get right to the heart of this matter,

“I love you”, can you feel the heat,

And can you drop what you’re doing and agree to meet

Me at the crossroads just after dinner and bring nothing else along,

Because I’ll have everything we need for the journey,

And it’s all wrapped up in this song.

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are grey...”
