There’s no singular perfect moment to receive the benediction

Other than the sweet delicacy that greets you now

You can’t discover it on the road or in the classroom by design

For it beckons to you from everywhere without reference to time.

 

There is only one direction that can take you there

And its invitation is awaiting you with every breath

Don’t waste your time in retrospection or projection

For the truth is naked without tense just like the song inside your heart.

 

I’ve stopped feeling silly about the way I care for you

What’s wrong with a love that knows no bounds

And when you awake to the warmth of the rising sun in the morning

I’ll be the one standing there smiling with open arms.

 

What happens when all that which once held meaning

Has become invisible or blurry at best

What is the answer when the question no longer arises

And you surrender to me at my bequest?

 

Is it possible to live a life without a speck of fear

Can you dive so deep within your heart

That the truth is all you hear

And can you feel the love that’s streaming from me now

As I share these words with you

And will you lie peacefully within my arms tonight

Knowing that everything is right and is your due?
